About Dr.Meyers
Dr. Amanda Meyers was raised in upstate New York, where her family still resides. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science; then continued on to graduate magna cum laude with her doctorate from New York Chiropractic College and completed her master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from NYCC.
The body and its challenges have significantly shaped Dr. Meyers’ life. A competitive swimmer for 16 years, her athletic career culminated as captain of the Division I University at Buffalo women’s swim team. In addition, during her final semester at UB, she worked closely with other athletes in various sports as an intern with the university’s Strength and Conditioning Program, where she focused on agility and weight training. As athlete and trainer, she learned, firsthand, the physical, emotional and psychological demands that high level athletics make on a person’s mind and body. She also learned the value of healing.
Nutrition challenges have also significantly affected her life. Almost a decade ago, she discovered that asthma and allergies as a child and into adulthood could be attributed to gluten intolerance. With her family’s help, she changed her eating habits to avoid foods containing gluten, went through the resultant withdrawal and subsequently increased her level of wellness. Since completion of her master's degree in Clinical Nutrition, Dr. Meyers provides nutritional counseling, seasoned with a healthy dose of empathy, based on personal experience.
As a chiropractic student, she had the unique opportunity to serve our Veterans as an intern at the Buffalo, NY Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The time spent treating patients not only impacted her clinical skills, but also her personal and professional conduct. Clinically she was exposed to common ailments associated with aging as well as significant conditions resulting from the physical stressors endured by those that have served our country. Exposure and conversation concerning the mental and emotional hardships faced by our Veterans taught her to be adaptable, making comfort of the patient first priority.
Dr. Meyers has been caring for patients in Red Mill since Spring 2009. She is a member of the American Chiropractic Association, the Virginia Chiropractic Association and National Association of Professional Women.
